New Music for Piccolo Call for Scores - Due May 1, 2026
Piccoloist Jack Nesser, in collaboration with Sound Ecologies, is announcing a call for scores including piccolo to be performed on the campuses of Butler University and University of Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Indiana in November of 2026. There is a lack of non-novelty music written for piccolo, especially for beginner to intermediate piccoloists. The purpose of this call for scores is to expand the repertoire of serious music for piccolo. Winners will receive at least one live performance of their work in Indianapolis, Indiana, and will receive a professional recording of the performance.

New Music for Grade 2 Band - Due October 1, 2026
Cathedral High School Band is partnering with Sound Ecologies to give a concert of new music in early May 2027. We hope to connect students to both the composition process and the local music scene in Indianapolis as well as enrich the repertoire for developing bands.
Submission Guidelines
Grade 2 difficulty is preferred. Grade 3 is acceptable. Refer to this document for guidelines.
Composers of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to submit. Indiana residents preferred.
Submissions should include a score and parts, a program note, and live or MIDI audio.
Submitted works should be 2 to 5 minutes in length.
Works that have not been premiered are preferred. Compositions should be no more than 5 years old.
Special Considerations
This ensemble lacks double reed instruments. Double reed parts should have cues so that other instruments can play important oboe and bassoon lines.
Cathedral has players of all ability levels. Consult Ian Callen at icallen@gocathedral.com if you wish to feature a soloist with a more difficult part or have any other questions specific to the group.
Works may include a piano part.
